An application number will be provided, which is needed to complete the process. Applicants then need to visit the RLA office to finalize the formalities.

For an International Driving License
● The applicant must hold a valid Chandigarh driving license.
● The applicant must have a valid passport.
● The applicant must possess a valid visa.

For a Domestic Driving License (for Chandigarh residents)
● The applicant must provide proof of residence in Chandigarh.
● The applicant must provide proof of date of birth (such as a PAN card, school certificate, passport, LIC policy, or birth certificate).

Note:

How can vehicle owners participate in Chandigarh’s RLA e-auctions for fancy registration numbers?

The RLA office conducts e-auctions for fancy registration numbers through the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways portal at fany.parivahan.gov.in. A new series is auctioned every three months. To participate, vehicle owners must register on the National Transport website or the Chandigarh Administration, Transport Department website, and obtain a Unique Acknowledgement Number (UAN).
After registration, the vehicle owner must pay the registration fee and the reserve amount for the desired special/choice registration numbers at the Office of Registering & Licensing Authority, Near Municipal Corporation Building Sector-17, U.T., Chandigarh.
The registration fee for participating in the e-auction is Rs. 500/- (non-refundable) in cash for all categories of special/choice registration numbers. The reserve amount payment must be made via a Demand Draft in the name of the Office of Registering & Licensing Authority, U.T, Chandigarh, with a validity of at least three months. The draft amount should equal the highest reserve price among the chosen numbers if participating in the e-auction for multiple choice registration marks.

After paying the tax, the applicant should select the “Renewal of RC” option and proceed with the necessary steps. Once all formalities are completed, the application will be approved within a week, and the renewed Registration Certificate will be delivered to the applicant’s residential address.
