A step towards creating a better environment, ‘Sustainable fashion practices’ campaign was launched today by students of Institute of Fashion & Communication Technology (IFCT) inside the premises of Rayat Bahra University, District Mohali.
Dr Palika Arora, PCS, Director, Social Welfare and Women & Child Development and Shruti Jamaal, Celebrity Fashion Designer who owns the brand ‘Scarlet by Shruti Jamaal’ were the special guests at the occasion.
“A cotton t-shirt takes 3000 litres water to produce the cotton required to make it! Fashion industry all together causes nearly 10% of the carbon emissions in the environment. There are ways how we can reduce this. Each one of us can contribute to this planet in simple ways and this is what this campaign is all about,” said Dr Neha Miglani, Director, IFCT at the launch ceremony of the event.
Dr Parvinder Singh, Vice Chancellor, Rayat Bahra University and Ankur Vadhera, Founder & CEO, IFCT were also present on the occasion.
As a part of this campaign, IFCT shall be organizing a series of events to create awareness about sustainable fashion practices in schools, colleges and corporate offices.
