Following yesterday’s royal wedding ceremony, Meghan Markle rolled the traditional something old, something borrowed, and something blue all into one at her Frogmore House reception Saturday evening, donning a stunning aquamarine cocktail ring that belonged to Prince Harry’s late mother Princess Diana.
The ring was spotted on Markle’s hand as she and her new husband sailed away from Windsor Castle in a vintage silver blue Jaguar E-Type, to their reception, which was hosted by Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles. The ring is probably not “borrowed” at all, as some think it was a wedding day gift from Harry to his wife. Diana left all her jewelry to her sons in her will, but Markle clearly opted not to wear any of the pieces until she was officially married.
The ring wasn‘t the only ode to her late mother-in-law Markle wore yesterday: her extra-long train and veil are thought to be a reference to the legendary ones Diana wore at her own wedding, and her post-ceremony look of a white mock-neck Stella McCartney dress with a sexier silhouette than royal tradition usually calls for also evoked Diana’s more daring styles. Harry and Meghan have continuously involved his late mother in their wedding preparations: Markle’s engagement ring even includes two stones from one of Diana’s brooches.
