The Right Nude

Spread the love

A nude lip colour is not the highlight of the show but it looks classy, fresh and not overpowering and that is the beauty of nude lip colours. However, it is important to choose the right nude lip shade for yourself. Follow these tips to ensure that you select the perfect nude that complements your complexion.

Tube or Liquid

First decide what you want to have. Tube lipsticks are perfect for beginners whereas liquid lipsticks require some practice for application so you should choose which type you are comfortable with.

Determine Your Skin Tone

Check out your skin in natural sunlight to determine your skin tone.

  • Light skin: Your skin is pale. When you are in sunlight, you burn and may possibly tan.
  • Medium skin: You get tanned easily but do not burn or have a sensitive skin.
  • Tan: Your skin is naturally tan or olive. You rarely burn and look tanned all year round.
  • Deep: Your skin is on the darker side and you never get tanned or sun burnt.

Find Out Your Skin Undertone

Most of the people do not know about their undertones. You can find out by checking your wrist.

  • If your wrist has blue or purple veins you have a cool undertone.
  • If your veins are green in colour, you have a warm undertone
  • If you cannot determine what colour your veins are, you are most likely to have a neutral undertone. The best of both worlds! Olive skin is more likely to have neutral undertones.

Matte or Gloss

If you want your lips to look fuller go for glosses and shimmers as they make your lips look plumper than usual. Since mattes do not reflect light, they may tend to make your lips look dry and chalky.

Finally, What Colour

  • Light skin: You can try corals or beiges for cool undertones. Warm undertones can try shades like pale pinks and peaches.
  • Medium skin: Shades like rose, mauve and berry will look best on cool undertones. Pink, cranberry, copper and bronze shades will look good on warm undertones.
  • Tan skin: Do not buy any brown or purple shades. Corals and deep pinks are best for you.
  • Dark skin: Brown and purples like walnut, caramel, plump and wine shades would be the most flattering for your skin. You could also experiment with deeper shades of red and brown.
