Sri Sri Ravi Shankar says Padmaavat should be celebrated

Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar watched Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s controversial period drama, Padmaavat, along with the filmmaker in a special screening at the Art Of Living ashram in Bengaluru on Monday.

Although many fringe outfits, particularly the Shri Rajput Karni Sena, have been determined to stop the release of Padmaavat, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar loved the Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh-starrer and did not find anything objectionable in it.

In fact, the spiritual guru expressed surprise as to why some people were opposing Padmaavat, as the film is about Rajput honour and is a beautiful tribute to Rani Padmavati. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said that Padmaavat would make the people feel proud and should be celebrated.

Meanwhile, the film, which is set to hit the theatres on January 25, has already been banned in four states – Rajasthan, Haryana, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

The makers of Padmaavat have moved the Supreme Court against the ban on the film imposed by these four states. The apex court is likely to hear the case this Friday (January 19).
