Himanshu Sharma, the 19-year-old youngest Professional Tattoo Artist in India who has opened India’s first conceptual luxury Tattoo Studio in Chandigarh, talks about the wrong notions usually ascribed with tattoos and tattoo artists in a conversation with Urvi Sharma.

Here Are Few Things Which A Person Must Know Before Getting A Tattoo

Tattoos don’t bleed

This is one thing that has been misinterpreted and misunderstood for so long. “No, tattoos don’t bleed”, says Himanshu as he talks about this common misconception. He further adds, “It is only when a person is drunk or drugged or high that the bleeding might happen. That is why, a good tattoo artist won’tever draw a tattoo if the client is drunk or drugged.”

Don’t go empty-stomach

You need to get a good night’s sleep, eat a full meal, and don’t go in hungover or drunk before getting a tattoo. “A tattoo needle doesn’t go very deep into the skin like a shot does. If you are empty-stomach, your blood pressure will fall and you might pass out. Hence, you need to have a full meal before getting a tattoo done”, explains Himanshu.

Stop getting ideas from Google or Pinterest

A tattoo is an expression that speaks about you. It should be something deeply related to your personal life rather than anything trending on social media. It is the work of a good tattoo artist, believe Himanshu, to inform the client about the significance of a tattoo and not simply draw anything.

“Tattoo should define your personality. I usually try to counsel my clients and make them understand if they are going for a tattoo that has no meaning or clichéd,” he says. He further explains how the placement of a tattoo is equally important as the tattoo itself and should be decided with wisdom and significance. Your ribs, feet, and butt will hurt the most.

Tattoo Studios are not dark and creepy

Enter The Art Attack and you instantly begin get the positive vibes and with its quirky décor and light arrangement, it instantly gives you a positive aura. “While designing my tattoo studio, I wanted it to be a place where everyone can be comfortable and happy,” says Himanshu while talking about his tattoo studio.

Donating blood after getting tattoo

Himanshu adds, “Just like piercing, you cannot donate blood 6 months after getting a tattoo. After the duration of this period, you can donate blood without any hassle.”

Who should avoid getting a tattoo?

The nursing mothers (due to threat of infection) and sugar patients should avoid getting tattoos (since healing wound takes longer for them).
