“Smartness & Self Care are Keys to Success in Glamour World”, says Saundarya Savi

She doesn’t believe in shortcuts as she knows that easy success doesn’t last long. In conversation with TLJ, model Saundarya Savi talks about her love for modelling and all that it takes to survive in the industry.

Why did you choose modelling as a career?

I think a person’s career should be by choice not by chance and the choices should be made on the basis of one’s passion and interest. I was always interested in being a model, and I am passionate to an extent that I always enjoy my work and give my 100 percent.

What does it take to make it big in the glamour industry?

Smartness and self-care are keys to success in the glamour world, Needless to say, you need perseverance and should be expert in whatever you do. These things help you sail through the industry smoothly.

What do you love about modelling?

I love everything about modelling, like getting ready for shoots, travelling to locations, getting clicked, watching myself on hoardings, and walking the ramp.

What are the perks of being in this industry?

You become a known face. You inspire people to look up to you and be like you. You are motivated when you get to know that people follow you and learn something from you.

What is the most valuable thing you have learned in the industry?

Easy money and easy success bring trouble. There is no shortcut to success. You have to strive for it, and that’s the learning for me.

Is modelling a stepping stone to actor’s chair?

In a way, yes. Modelling lifts your confidence in such a way that you don’t have stage fright and are not camera conscious. You can learn the secrets of the trade and easily work on the skills needed to become an actor.

How do you see this enigmatic world of fashion?

Well, I won’t say it’s enigmatic. If you are clear about your aim and confident to face the challenges on the way, then you are ready to go.

How difficult is it to survive in the industry?

Surviving is difficult if you don’t have discretion. Also, it is tough to create your brand equity, and for that, you have to be smart and ready to take up challenges and push yourself hard.

How tough is it to constantly look beautiful and fit?

It’s a pretty simple equation. To look fit and good, you need to sweat out, either by workout, dance or yoga. It is tough for those who cannot devote time to fitness.

If not a model or actress, what would you have been?

I would have been working with a MNC, but at the same time, I would have dreamt of making a name for myself in the field of dance or fashion.

Your favourite brands?

Biotique products are really good, I often go for them. Being in Delhi I always crave for dresses from SN Market, Rajouri Market. If I have to buy anything, these are the markets I prefer visiting.

Any brands you wish to walk for?

I am not brand specific. If I have to name one, it should be Ponds.

Anyone you idolize in the modelling world? If so, why?

I look up to Jennifer Winget. She is smart, talented and beautiful.

What do you do when you are not working?

I just relax  at my place as I am not a party girl. I eat homemade food, relax and watch TV. I actually get rejuvenated by being at home.
